An Interview with Author and Educator Kimberly Behre Kenna

Kimberly Behre Kenna is a long-time 5th-grade educator and the author of Jett Jamison and the Secret Storm and Artemis Sparke and the Sound Seekers Brigade.

Seedlings sat down with Kimberly Behre Kenna, author of Jett Jamison and the Secret Storm and Artemis Sparke and the Sound Seekers Brigade, to chat about her books and classroom practices. Kim shares with us about her inspirations for writing, her approaches to writing–for herself and in the classroom–talking authentically to children about trauma (both of her characters experience trauma, Jett in particular), and so much more. This interview has been made with teachers in mind, but would also interest book club leaders, librarians, mental health care professionals, and community leaders.

Kimberly Behre Kenna is a long-time 5th-grade educator and the author of Jett Jamison and the Secret Storm, and Artemis Sparke and the Sound Seekers Brigade. Kenna also ran a Seedlings workshop for middle school educators until 2012.
