Jett Jamison and the Secret Storm

An Interview with author and educator Kimberly Behre Kenna

Seedlings chatted with author and educator Kimberly Behre Kenna to learn about her books and what inspired her to write Jett Jamison and the Secret Storm.

All Jett Jamison wants is a little peace and quiet. Living in a tiny house in the tiny town of Wisteria, with twin brothers who believe they’re superheroes is bad enough, but the voices in her head that buzz with bits of a bad memory are even worse. A friend recommends a book sure to unscramble her confusion, but it’s disappeared and nobody wants to talk about it. Enraged, she and her friends form a team to fight the censorship, even enlisting her clever pet bunny, Felix, one-eared Grey Cat, and the ghosts of a few authors known for shaking things up. They plan a peaceful protest, but it backfires big time, and the town goes berserk. Now Jett realizes that peace isn’t always quiet, and she’ll need to heal herself before she can restore peace in Wisteria.

Kenna is a long-time 5th-grade educator and the author of Jett Jamison and the Secret Storm and Artemis Sparke and the Sound Seekers Brigade.

Praise for Jett:

"What an amazing, uplifting, beautifully written book! This story simultaneously entertained, moved, and inspired me. The author showed Jett’s pain, struggles, and resourcefulness, without a hint of exaggeration, preaching, or sensationalism. This book should be front and center in school and public libraries everywhere."
