Yale University Art Gallery

Yale University Art Gallery is a long-time Seedlings partner, collaborating with us for summer and after-school workshop enrichment activities. The museum’s collection and educational staff provide unique and enriching professional development for many educators throughout Connecticut.

Yale University Art Gallery also offers family days and fun story telling videos where stories are selected and paired with artwork in the museum for a fun listening and learning experience for children (and adults) of all ages. You are free to use their videos, coloring pages, and other activities in your classroom. Selected Stories & Art Video Presentations

Go looking for triangles, squares, rectangles, and circles as you listen to an adapted version of Marilyn Burns’ The Greedy Triangle while looking at the artwork “Abstraction” by Erika Giovanna Klien (© Erika Giovanna Klien). Then get your pencil and paper ready so you can create your own art using these shapes after the story ends. Reading presented by the Yale University Art Gallery, with permission from Scholastic.
“The King’s New Clothes,” is based on a story by the medieval Spanish writer Don Juan Manuel and another by the Danish 19th-century author Hans Christian Andersen. The story is paired with two artworks from the Gallery’s collection: a portrait of an emperor made in the style of German artist Albrecht Dürer and a watercolor drawing titled Costume Sketch for Andersen Tales by the Russian artist Mstislav Dobuzhinsky.
